"Social Media: Trends and Implications for Learning" will explore the impact of new technologies, research, and related projects.
Finding coherence in the midst of rapid changes is increasingly difficult. This monthly session will create a forum for educators to gather, present, and discuss the future impact of today's trends.

PROCEEDINGS
Accepted papers will be published by AACE in the Technology and Teacher Education Annual proceedings series. Books in this series serve as major source documents indicating the current state of teacher education and information technology. This proceedings will be published as a searchable electronic book on CD-ROM.
The Proceedings are internationally distributed through and archived in the Education and Information Technology Digital Library.
First and second paper authors are limited to two papers published in the Annual.
PAPER AWARDS
All presented papers will be considered for Best Paper Awards within several categories.
Award winning papers may be invited for publication in the:

INTRODUCTION:
Global Learn Asia Pacific is an annual, international conference organized by the Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE). The conference will be guided by a respected, international Executive Committee, primarily from countries of the Asia Pacific region.
This conference serves to further the advancement and innovation in learning and technology. As the educational world becomes increasingly global, new ways to explore, learn, and share knowledge are needed.
Global Learn is a means to connect and engage creative educators, researchers, consultants, training managers, policy makers, curriculum developers, entrepreneurs, and others in the topics and fields in which they are passionate about. Many individuals are transforming learning environments in local as well as more global ways. Global Learn offers them an opportunity to meet and discuss their ideas, findings, and next steps.
The decision to create and organize this annual conference in Asia and the Pacific Rim is testament to the enormous interest in learning and technology throughout this region of the world and a response to many requests to AACE to undertake this initiative.
Primary aims of Global Learn include but are not restricted to:
- Create learning and professional development opportunities combining the best and latest technologies with educational practices and characterized as interactive, social, and personal experiences.
- Provide opportunities for ongoing exploration of both the diversity and commonality of the uses of educational technology in different regions and cultures.
- Foster a global networking/collaborative community on learning and technology.
- Help visualize and shape the future of learning and teaching.

The book will be edited by Madhumita (Mita) Bhattacharya, from Athabasca University, Canada, and Massey University, New Zealand; Nada Mach from California State University, Dominguez Hills, as well as Mahnaz Moallem, from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington.
The idea emerged from a Panel Presentation several of us participated in at the E-Learn Conference in Las Vegas last fall and developed further at our symposium at the ED-MEDIA Conference in Honolulu in last June.
Please send a message to Mita at mmitab@gmail.com if you would like to discuss your ideas and participate in writing chapter(s) and/or serve as a reviewer. We will then send you an invitation to join the Wiki.
Timelines are posted on the Wiki, and we anticipate that the chapter should be approximately 15-20 pages in length (single-spaced) 4500-6000 words. Further guidelines on these will also be posted on the Wiki.
We will use the wiki space to initiate discussion on various topics relevant to this book. We plan to organize a symposium at the forthcoming E-Learn conference in Vancouver to discuss further on this book.

This Final Call for Participation is offered for those who were:- unable to meet the first deadline for submissions in April, or
- were not ready to present a finished paper or project, or
- have a work-in-progress topic to present, and
- do not yet have a proposal accepted for presentation.
PRESENTATION CATEGORIES:
We invite you to attend the E-Learn Conference and submit proposals for these presentation categories. The Technical Program includes a wide range of interesting and useful activities designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information. Including...VIRTUAL PRESENTATIONS:
In consideration of presenters who may be unable to attend ED-MEDIA in person due to funding or time constraints, Virtual Presentations have been added to the program with the same validity (publication, certification, etc.) as the face-to-face (F2F) conference and with the capability to interact with session participants. A limited number of presentations in these categories will be accepted:- Virtual Brief Papers
- Virtual Posters
- Virtual Corporate Showcases
- Saves money. No travel, accommodation, and restaurant costs
- Saves time. No travel or away time required.
- Allows you to participate when you schedule your time to do so.
- Same validity as the face-to-face (F2F) conference (publication, certification, etc.).
- Paper published in CD, book, and Digital Library ( http://www.editlib.org) proceedings.
- Publish and share all supporting media (PPT, video, etc.) in the proceedings.
- Capability to interact with your session's participants (async) prior to, during and after the event.
- Participate in all conference session discussions (async).
- Viewing of keynote and invited speaker talks.

First Social Media for Learning Seminar a Success!
In what can only be described as spectacular, nearly 300 attendees joined us yesterday for the first ever Social Media Seminar presented by AACE's brand new Global U.
